Healing Quest Through Connection
Open to ages 18 and older who are interested in Dungeons & Dragons
The purpose of this group is to provide group members an avenue where they can explore ways to work on acceptance and commitment change with Anxiety, Social Anxeity, and Identity Exploration. Working on acceptance and commitment in the group will help the participants learn healthy ways of relating to others while maintaining accountability for learning new skills and different ways of coping through Dungeons and Dragons.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) allows the group members to collaborate with others, which will benefit them as fellow collaborators.
Through the power of storytelling using Dungeons and Dragons, Using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) allows the group members to collaborate with other group members, which will benefit them as fellow collaborators.
The goal of this group is to help increase the acceptance and commitment to change, where clients are accountable for learning and applying new coping skills as well as ways to relate to other people.
Improving Connections
Open to adult women of all ages
Shame is universal and something we all encounter. When we experience shame, it is easy to retreat and allow shame to spiral. Shame tells us that we are alone and inadequate. Throughout this group there will be an emphasis on the role shame has on our ability to experience love and belonging, along with building connections and increasing shame resilience.
Participants will have the opportunity to share their experiences with shame, practice empathy and critical awareness, reaching out to others, and speaking about shame in order to create stronger connections.
These topics will be explored utilizing Brene Brown’s book I Thought It Was Just Me (but it isn’t) and various other tools from her evidence based Connections curriculum.
Roll For Discovery
Open to ages 12-16 who are interested in Dungeons and Dragons
The purpose of this group is to provide group members an avenue where they can explore skills they would like to improve on and be able to engage in practicing these skills through Dungeons and Dragons.
This group focuses on regulation of social anxiety symptoms and increasing healthy coping strategies. Learning and practicing these strategies will help you deal with a variety of feelings and succeed at various challenging situations that involve interacting with others. It is completely understandable if you have some good people skills already but lack in other areas. This is typically the case with most people.
Through the power of storytelling using Dungeons and Dragons, individuals will get the opportunity to engaged in role play, feedback, and ways they can transfer these skills to real life events.
The goal of this group is to help increase the choices you have, not to force you to act in any particular way. Choices give you the opportunity to use the skills you have learned or not, it is all up to you. Even when people respond to you in a way that you didn’t expect, these skills will work in almost any situation.
