Kristin Schloemer, LMHC, NCC
Flawed with good intentions. I believe this is how many of us would describe ourselves. There are times when our intentions miss the mark or we struggle to express ourselves in a way that is healthy and effective in our relationships. Over my 20+ years practicing in the mental health field, I’ve worked with many people just like you who can have difficulty communicating in a way that feels comfortable and genuine. Utilizing a variety of evidence-based approaches, I will work with you to sort through feelings and situations that create or perpetuate distress and to find calm in who you are and who you want to be.
My style is direct, empathetic, and nonjudgmental. Ultimately you hold the power to make changes within yourself and how you express yourself to others, and I’m here to counsel you to uncover that potential. I enjoy working with teens and adults, ages 16 and up. I specialize in working with people who are struggling with identity confusion, depression, anxiety, trauma, and life transitions. I am supportive of relationships of all kinds and have expertise in working with the LGBTQIA+ community.
At this time, I only offer sessions via telehealth. I am approved to provide clinical supervision in the state of Iowa for MHC’s, MFT’s and MSW’s.
It may have taken you longer than you intended to consider reaching out to a therapist for whatever feelings or situations you are dealing with. Being vulnerable and sharing your struggles with someone can be uncomfortable. I do whatever I can to help the process of getting started in therapy to be as painless as possible. Contact me directly via email if you think I would be a good fit for you.
Kristin offers telehealth appointments.
